Biography of The Supremes
Diana Ross & The Supremes were the crown jewel of Berry Gordy's Motown empire and the epitome of the girl-group phenomenon. Savvy productions by Holland-Dozier-Holland in the '60s gave this group an unprecedented string of hits. Despite group instability, this trio continued to make quality music for over fifteen years. Members included Diana Ross (replaced by Jean Terrell in 1970, Scherrie Payne in 1973), Mary Wilson, and Florence Ballard (deceased, replaced by Cindy Birdsong in 1967, Lynda Lawrence in 1972, Susaye Greene in 1976) ~ Rick A.
