Biography of Jonathan Richman

He formed new-wave group The Modern Lovers early in the '70s, initially influenced by The Velvet Underground's dark and brooding visions of life. Richman's style became lighter, more childlike and romantic as the '70s wore on, described in some critical corners as naive genius. His solo albums since then have pushed the parameters of cuteness into theme albums (Jonathan Goes Country, etc.), amplifying Richman's lighthearted approach. ~ Cub Koda
