Biography of Digable Planets

One of the hottest hip-hop jazz groups to emerge in the '90s, Digable Planets combined a witty, loose rapping style similiar to the old "beat" poetry with improvisational backing to score a commercial and aesthetic success with their debut CD, Reaching: A New Refutation of Time & Space. Reaching proved to be both a critical and commercial success. Its follow-up, 1994's more street-oriented Blowout Comb, didn't achieve as many sales, yet it confirmed the group's status as one of hip-hop's most praised bands. ~ Ron Wynn
